Eigenlijk behoort 'WALZ Bella', al hoort men 't niet direct in de naam, tot de "WALZ-muziekinstrumentenserie" - dit omdat zij evenals deze planten Fuchsia magdalenae als kruisingsouder heeft.
Hier zit (volgens dhr. W. Stolk, lid van de Waldenmaier Fanclub), een stukje persoonlijke geschiedenis achter van de veredelaar. Deze noemde de plant naar zijn overleden schoonmoeder, die Bella werd genoemd. Toch zit er ook in deze naam nog een muziekinstrument verscholen, n.l. Bel. Het is een plant die nogal moeilijk overwintert, en niet moet worden ingekuild. You don't hear it in her name, but in fact 'WALZ Bella' should be classified with the "WALZ musical instruments", as these plants also have Fuchsia magdalenae in their parentage. According to Mr. W. Stolk, a member of the Waldenmaier Fanclub, this was a personal choice of the hybridizer because he named the plant after his late mother-in-law who was called Bella. In fact, a musical instrument is hidden in the name, being Bell. This plant is a difficult overwinterer, and not to be kept under peat-litter because it's not likely to survive a wintersleep. |
