Amélie Aubin

Amélie Aubin - Aubin F 1885 HH E wit rozerood / B/T S white pinkred

Ouders onbekend / Parentage unknown

This plant is a good-old-faithful in my collection, it has proved very strong. In winter it can be put under peat-litter for a resting period, and it's also easy to root in a vase of water. Its susceptibility to rust, however, is a disadvantage.
'Amélie Aubin' easily gets mixed up with 'Waternymph', also a very old cultivar from the 19th century, having about the same shape of leaf and flower, but a redder corolla and a creamy-white tube and petals while those of 'Amélie Aubin' are pure white. The flowers of 'Amélie Aubin' seldom show any distortions, like having more than four petals. Nevertheless, I found a plant at somebody else's with rather irregular flowers containing petalloids, as is shown in the picture on the right.
