'Annabel' is één van de populairste fuchsia's in Nederland, en waarschijnlijk ook in andere landen waar men fuchsia's kweekt. Het is zeker de meest gekweekte witte fuchsia, en ook al verscheidene jaren achter elkaar bekroond met het maximale aantal van 5 "sterren" die Euro-Fuchsia eraan geeft als een groot aantal leden van Europese fuchsiaverenigingen ervoor stemt als de "beste fuchsia". (Dit werd geschreven in 2007; de sterren zijn nu niet meer te vinden op die website). |
'Annabel' is one of the most popular fuchsias in the Netherlands, and probably also in other countries where fuchsias are grown. It certainly is the most frequently grown white fuchsia, and it has been awarded with the maximum amount of 5 "stars" by Euro-Fuchsia, which is given to a plant if it's been nominated as the "best fuchsia" by a great number of members of European fuchsia-societies. | Op bovenstaande foto's groeit de plant in een klomp aan de muur, lang geleden in 1992 toen ik 'm voor het eerst tegenkwam en kocht bij een bekende supermarkt. Heel makkelijk om over te houden vond ik 'm evenwel niet, na een paar jaar was ik de plant weer kwijt. (De roodbloeiende fuchsia in de klomp rechts is 'Marinka') |
Here the plant grows in a wooden shoe on the wall, long ago in 1992, when I found the plant for the first time, and bought it in a well-known supermarket. I didn't find it very easy to keep it, however, and I lost it a few years later. (The fuchsia with red flowers on the right is 'Marinka') |
Later hadden mijn buren een uitbundig exemplaar in een hangmand (zie hierboven, en foto bovenaan) waar ik wat stekken van kreeg.
Later my neighbours had a profusely flowering 'Annabel' in a hanging basket (pictures above and at the top), of which I got some cuttings.

Geen gebrek aan bloemen, ondanks de tegenvallende zomer.
