De witte anjers op deze foto's waren in combinatie met witte rozen en tulpen en ook wat gele bloemen, verwerkt in een liturgische bloemschikking met Pasen.
Bij ons in Nederland wekt een witte anjer al gauw een gedachte-associatie met wijlen Prins Bernhard, die altijd een witte anjer in z'n knoopsgat droeg. Daarover gaat ook het komische gedichtje hieronder.
In Engeland en Amerika wordt de witte anjer echter vooral gezien als de bloem die men op Moederdag naar het graf van de overleden moeder brengt. Hierover gaat het Engelstalige gedicht.
Een relatie met de betekenis 'Talent' vindt men misschien ook wel terug bij het door Prins Bernhard opgerichte Anjerfonds, dat financiële steun geeft aan culturele en kunstprojecten.

In the Netherlands, a white carnation is often seen in relation with the late Prince Bernhard, who always wore one in his button-hole. He also founded the Anjerfonds (Carnation fund), giving financial support to cultural and art projects. This perfectly fits in with the meaning given to this flower:  'Talent',  in Dutch the same word as in English.
