64. Klokje - Bluebell / Harebell
Campanula rotundifolia
(Campanulaceae)

Bluebell or Harebell is indigenous to the Netherlands, but has become very rare. It's a very tender plant, with thin stems of about 20 cm in length and on them these lovely skyblue little bells. Its foliage on the flowering stems is very narrow, almost like grass, but at the foot of the plant it bears round leaves, therefore the species name is rotundifolia.
The picture below is from 1980, so already some time ago. These harebells grew somewhere in the province of Drenthe in the Northeast of the Netherlands.
In the picture next to the card a garden plant, Peachleaf Bellflower
(Campanula persicifolia),  that seems to rarely occur in nature too.

Floral meaning: the Dutch word
'Vreugde' means 'Joy'.
