No. 44 - Clematis - Clematis hybr. (Ranunculaceae)

These days you find more different kinds of Clematis than in the past, and they don't only flower in spring anymore. The older cultivars like 'Nelly Moser' are spring-flowering and spend all their abundance in about two weeks time, but there are also cultivars flowering in summer or even the beginning of autumn, or spreading their bloom over several months. So within a garden with enough room for various Clematis plants you can keep enjoying them from early May till September.
In addition to the classical types like in these pictures, there are also double and hanging Clematis flowers; some have only 4 petals like the purple one in the picture below, others 6 or 8 petals like 'Nelly Moser', or a variable number like the one in the picture beside the card. The drawing on the card doesn't seem quite realistic to me - the petals overlap eachother too much, and without any system, especially the undermost flower seems odd to me.
The meaning of 'Geestesadel' is 'Spiritual nobility'.
