Een triphylla-type, maar Fuchsia triphylla is geen kruisingsouder van deze fuchsia. Het is een primaire kruising tussen twee
andere botanische fuchsia's (zie boven). Ik heb jarenlang gedacht dat deze plant 'Mantilla' was, maar hoewel die qua bloem erop lijkt zijn ze toch echt wel verschillend. 'Mantilla' is een uitgesproken hanger, terwijl halfhanger 'Grasmere' ook wel als struikje kan worden gekweekt. |
A triphylla-type fuchsia, but its parentage has nothing to do with Fuchsia triphylla.
This primary crossing was made with two other botanical fuchsias (see above). For years I thought this plant was the famous 'Mantilla', but although the flowers show some resemblance the two are really different in foliage and growth. 'Mantilla' is a real trailer, while semi-trailing 'Grasmere' can be grown as a bush as well. |

Pas afgelopen zomer (2002) kwam ik achter de ware naam van 'Grasmere', hoewel ik al sinds 1999 wist dat het niet 'Mantilla' was.
In een open tuin, waar ik de foto hierboven rechts heb genomen, vond ik eindelijk een naamkaartje bij deze "grote onbekende"... |
