Hierboven een trosje dat al uitgebloeide bloempjes vertoont, en zelfs een beginnende vrucht linksonder.

Tropidothorax belogolowi (Jakovlev, 1890) (Lygaeidae).

Deze oranjerood bekruiste wantsen vertonen uiterlijk wat overeenkomst met Dysdercus decussatus, die witbekruist is met rode kop.
Deze zwart/oranje wants uit het verre oosten echter is een andere soort, Tropidothorax belogolowi (Jakovlev, 1890) (Lygaeidae), zoals mij in nov. 2006 werd medegedeeld door de Japanse entomologist Katsuyuki Kohno. These orangered-crossed stink bugs look a lot like Dysdercus decussatus, 'Cotton stainer bugs', which are white-crossed with red heads.
This bug from the far east, however, is quite a different species, as I was told by the Japanese entomologist Mr. Katsuyuki Kohno in Nov 2006, nl. Tropidothorax belogolowi (Jakovlev, 1890) (Lygaeidae).

Indrukwekkende peulachtige kokervruchten, aan 't verdrogen om weldra open te kunnen springen...
Impressive pod-like follicles, drying out a little already to be able to open up when fully dry...

Schitterend-wit pluis puilt uit de eenzijdig geopende kokervrucht.
Glittering white fluff bulging out of the one-sidedly opened follicle.

De plant is vrij algemeen in Zuid-Korea, constateerde dhr. J. Henrichs, die in maart 2005 weer naar Nederland is teruggekeerd en dus nu geen gelegenheid meer heeft het gewas te observeren.
Mogelijk is het zelfs onkruid - net als bij ons de haagwinde (Calystegia sepium), die ook mooie bloemen draagt maar een lastpak is als hij tussen gekweekte planten belandt.

The plant is fairly common in South Korea, was the conclusion of Mr. J. Henrichs, who returned to the Netherlands in March 2005, and so won't have a chance to observe it any longer.
Metaplexis japonica might even be a noxious weed - just like Hedgebells / Greater bindweed (Calystegia sepium) with us, also blooming beautifully but teasing us when it's smothering our cultivated plants.
