Deze plant lijkt op 't eerste gezicht sprekend op Straat Cook, en het blad is ook practisch gelijk, ik zie tenminste geen
duidelijk verschil en daarbij komt ook nog dat beide planten nogal variabel gevormd blad hebben. Wat de bloemen echter onderscheidt,
is dat Straat Holland vlak onder 't vruchtbeginsel een knobbeltje heeft bovenaan de buis, terwijl bij Straat Cook meer een vage
verdikking zit op die plaats. Bovendien, en misschien valt dat nog het meest op, krullen de punten van zowel de kelk- als de kroonbladen
bij Straat Cook naar buiten om (omhoog dus, bij de hangende bloempjes), terwijl dit bij Straat Holland helemaal niet het geval is.
De kroonbladen van Straat Holland zijn ook iets kleiner en onopvallender. At first sight this plant looks the same as Straat Cook, not only the flowers but also the foliage, at least I don't see any clear difference between the leaves of both plants, which are also very variably shaped. A difference between the flowers, however, is the globular top of the tube of Straat Holland, while Straat Cook only has a vague thickening there. Moreover, and perhaps that's the most striking difference, the tips of both sepals and petals of Straat Cook curl up, while those of Straat Holland don't - it has smaller petals than Straat Cook too. |
